“Design is not simply Art, it is elegance of function.” Ferdinand Porsche

This is our second Porsche and Watch post, but this time two modern icons, a stunning Porsche 991 Carrera 4 GTS paired with an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore 44mm in rose gold.

The centre lock wheels are stunning and compliment the car beautifully. They are taken from the Turbo S and really fill the wheel arches of the wider 4 wheel drive GTS. We were lucky to find such a great back drop to shoot the car against.

Many AP fans consider the rose gold 44mm chronograph to the be the best offering that AP has in its current line up. The watch is very polarising and most negativity is focussed on the size of the piece. At 44mm it is not a low key piece and in rose gold it gets noticed everywhere you go, which can be a bad thing in certain neighbourhoods. It’s one of those watches that really grows on you. After you’ve worn it for a while, you get used to it’s size and start to the enjoy the watch more.

AP’s attention to detail is just incredible with brushed and polished surfaces working in tandem. The dial is very easy to read and the black gold contrast is a winner in our book.

Purists argue that the extra weight required for a convertible ruins the performance of the car. However, the driving experience with the hood down, has to be so much better than in the coupe. You can hear the engine exhaust note and smell the rubber as you drive the car hard. However, as the weather in this part of the world is wet a lot of the time, living with a convertible is only marginally more difficult than with the hard top.
