Our Visit to SalonQP 2015

Now in its 7th year, the Saatchi Gallery just off the Kings Rd in London, is the venue for SalonQP, a show hosted by QP Magazine every November. “QP” stands for “Quantieme Perpetual” which is the French term for perpetual calendar.  The show has established itself as an incredible environment to get hands on with some stunning pieces from small boutique brands. You may find yourself with a rose gold HM6 MB&F or the latest Roger Smith on your wrist, the first being compared to a miniature space ship and the second a beautifully crafted traditional piece, from arguably the greatest watchmaker that the UK has ever seen.

It runs from Thursday to Saturday and includes a champagne reception. There are also seminars and workshops running throughout the day on the top floor that cover various topics from looking at a particular launch in more detail to seminars on collecting and movements.

As this is probably our favourite show in the watch fair calendar, we wanted to go as visitors as opposed to press/media. So this is not really a review or report of the show itself, you can find some good ones online. However, we did manage to prepare a short debut film that you’ll find at the end of the post. Being based in Brussels, we do have very close links to Paris, so the tragic events of Friday were playing heavily on everyone’s mind.

We did get around to see many of the showstoppers, such as the Opus 14 from Harry Winston and Roger Smith. One of our favourite brands is Urwerk. Incredibly cutting edge watches with strong masculine DNA. This year they launched their first ladies watch, the UR-106 pictured below. Breathtaking diamond set case and crown with satellite hour indicators.

F.P.Journe are masters at producing horological gems and the Tourbillon Souverain doesn’t disappoint. A Tourbillon with a constant force device and dead beat seconds, making it one of the most accurate on the market.

This is our debut film. We do love this medium and will definitely produce a lot more footage moving forward. Enjoy
